Partick Thistle Football Club

 David Beattie

David Beattie

Born in Whiteinch in 1955 David's father (a Partick born man) was determined that his son would be the new striker for Thistle.

Sadly it transpired that David had "two left feet" and could not be the footballer his father wanted, but instead became a regular visitor to Firhill with his dad.

Later, the family moved from Whiteinch to Linwood and, although they followed the team through TV and newspaper reports, very rarely did they have had the opportunity to actually attend games and offer their support to the team at Firhill.

The Thistle bug has, however, never left David.

Educated in Linwood, David achieved very little academically but has always harboured a determination to succeed at whatever he turned his hand to.

In the course of the last 30 years David has started and sold a number of companies in the food & drink industry, most recently creating the Enterprise Food Group Ltd in 1995 from the basement of his house.

He grew the company from a zero start to a position where it was employing over 500 people within the bakery sector supplying supermarkets with cakes and related products and, in 2005, sold the manufacturing arm of the company.

Chief Executive of Enterprise Foods Ltd, David is still working within the bakery sector.

David, a finalist in the 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year, lives in the south side of Glasgow in a small village named Carmunnock.

Married with 5 children (2 boys & 3 girls), David's youngest son Shaun maintains the family tradition of being being an ardent Jags fan.

David was keen to become a Director of PTFC and hopes to bring some of his entrepreneurial spirit and expertise, to allow the club to return to what he considers to be its rightful place in the SPL!
