After a bitterly disappointing month of October tomorrow signifies the start of a new month and hopefully an upturn in fortunes for Thistle as we aim to return to the form of the first couple of months of the season. Form that had everyone looking to the future of Partick Thistle with genuine optimism.
With Queen of the South league leaders tomorrow’s fixture is an extremely attractive one. Thistle manager Ian McCall was previously in charge at Palmerston and he was, when speaking to www.ptfc.co.uk, fulsome in his praise for his former team.
“Queen of the South are top of the league on merit and although they have had, as just about every team has had, the wee dip in form here and there they are on a good run at the moment. They have a big squad, a squad packed with plenty of quality players, some of which I’m more than familiar with. With Queens top of the league their manager Gordon Chisholm will be more than aware that teams will be gunning for them and desperate to try and knock them off their perch at the top of the league. That’s exactly what we will be trying to do tomorrow.”
“If we are to do so though we will need to do so without a number of players. Alan Archibald and Mark Roberts are still out injured while Simon Storey is suspended following his red card at St Johnstone last weekend. Meantime Marc Twaddle, who missed last week’s game, is rated 50/50 for tomorrow. It’s unfortunate that of the four players that will possibly be missing tomorrow three of them are defenders but that is something that we will just need to get on with.”
“I must say that I have been delighted with the response from my players since last week’s game. They have worked their socks off in training . Additionally we had a reserve game during the week against Stenhousemuir. We won 3-0 but the final score could have been much greater. The three goals were shared between Damon Gray and Stevie Lennon , who netted twice. It was great to see those two players on target. It was also pleasing to see that players that should be pushing hard for a place in the first team do well. The performances from the likes of Ryan McStay, Chris Turner and Scott Chaplain have placed them firmly in contention for tomorrow’s game.”
Queen of the South meantime welcome back Neil MacFarlane whom missed last week’s game with Ross County but Bob Harris and Gary Arbuckle remain on the sidelines while Craig Barr is rated at 50/50 for tomorrow’s game.
