Assistant manager Gerry Britton is the man in charge for the trip to Stranraer. Gerry had been prior to his return to Firhill last season manager down at Stair Park and this evening’s fixture will be his first trip back.
The squad at Gerry’s disposal this evening is as follows:
Jonny Tuffey, Willie Kinniburgh, Gary Harkins, Mark Roberts, Scott Chaplain, Simon Storey, Ricky Little, Graeme Eaglesham, Michael Robertson, Ryan MacBeth, Scott Tully, Ross McGeough, Philip Middlemiss and a Trialist.
There is a strong Thistle connection at Stranraer. Manager Derek Ferguson had a short spell here as a player and their current squad includes such familiar names as John Kane, James McKinstry, Steven Bonner, Andy Gibson and Stephen McConalogue (pictured in action for Thistle against Stranraer). In addition former Thistle keeper Kevin Budinauckas is goalkeeping coach at Stair Park.
Thistle last faced Stranraer in the play-off semi-final at the end of the 2005/2006 season. Thistle won the first leg at Stair Park 3-1 with Mark Roberts helping himself to a double with Scott McCulloch chipping in with a goal as well. Thistle needed the two goal advantage as Stranraer won a nerve ridden return at Firhill by two goals to one.
Kick-off at Stair Park tonight, for Stranraer’s opening pre-season fixture, is 7:30pm and admission prices have been set at £5 for adults and £3 concessions.
