 Match Preview

The 2009/2010 season is now well and truly into the final straight. With issues still be settled at both ends of the table the First Division season is shaping up for an exciting finale. From our own point of view the fact that we aren't involved in the title shake up is both disappointing and highly frustrating but we can still influence events at the top and the bottom of the division.

Tomorrow we make the short trip to Airdrie aiming to record our fifth win of the season against the current bottom side Airdrie United and thus complete a clean sweep against our old rivals.

As manager Ian McCall readily admitted though when speaking to www.ptfc.co.uk another victory against Airdrie United is anything but a formality.

"Airdrie United might be bottom of the league at the present moment but they still harbour hopes of hauling themselves off the foot of the league before the season's end and they will be determined to get all three points tomorrow. They've recorded a couple of excellent results recently as well, defeating Dundee and Morton in their last two home games and will be tough opponents for us tomorrow afternoon."

Tomorrow there will be a couple of familiar faces added to the Thistle squad.

"We've brought Paddy Boyle and Kris Doolan back from their loan spells at Clyde and they will go into the squad for tomorrow. We are short in terms of numbers at the moment and now that they are back at Firhill Paddy and Kris have an opportunity to show that they should be part of the team for next season."

"We are without Alan Archibald, who as Thistle fans will now know will be out for 4-5 months, and Martyn Corrigan for tomorrow's game. We can add the name of Ryan MacBeth to the list of absentees because of injury. Ryan has aggravated an ankle injury that he picked up while playing for the under 19 side. That's a blow for Ryan as he stood a good chance of being involved. Kieran Burns and Ross McGeough though are once again part of the first team squad."
