January was not a kind month for Partick Thistle with each of the last three league matches ending in defeat. The most recent of which, against Inverness, coming in highly controversial circumstances and denying Thistle tonight the services of defender Ian Maxwell after Thistle's appeal for his red card to be overturned was rejected.
While Maxwell is a confirmed absentee manager Ian McCall this morning was able to provide www.ptfc.co.uk with an update on the state of play with the rest of the squad as we aim to get back to winning ways against Ayr United at Somerset Park this evening.
"Although we will be missing Ian Maxwell because of suspension we do welcome back Alan Archibald and Paul Paton following their period of suspension. We also welcome back Simon Donnelly and Paul Cairney after they missed the trip to Inverness. John Robertson was ill at the weekend and lost a lot of weight but he should be okay to play this evening. We do, however, still a have a few players missing with Stephen McKeown, Greg Shields and Craig Hinchcliffe on the injury list."
"This will be a tough game tonight, it always is at Somerset Park, but after a bad run of results I'm looking for maximum points both from tonight's game and our home match with Airdrie United on Saturday. It's important that we try and get some momentum back into our season."

There is a half hourly train service from Glasgow to either Ayr or Newton-on-Ayr. The ground is a ten minute walk from both stations.
By Car
A77 to Ayr, and at Whitletts roundabout take third exit (A719) and follow until after Ayr Racecourse. Take first right at traffic lights then left and right into Somerset Road.
There is, limited, car parking located next to the Main Stand. Price £1.50.
