Partick Thistle Football Club

 Match Preview

After victories in two close door matches (4-1 v Cowdenbeath and 2-1 v Queen's Park) the doors officially open on Thistle's pre-season programme tomorrow with a visit to Forthbank Stadium and a meeting with Second Division Stirling Albion.

For the majority travelling through to Stirling tomorrow it will provide them with a first opportunity to cast their eyes over Thistle's five summer signings, Patrick Boyle, Martyn Corrigan, Chris Erskine, Jim Hamilton and Bryan Hodge.

As normal for pre-season fixtures expect to see plenty of changes throughout the course of the 90 minutes tomorrow.

For those not making the trip to Stirling tomorrow we will have news and reaction here on www.ptfc.co.uk after full-time.

Last season Thistle twice visited Forthbank. At a similar stage of our pre-season build up goals from Paul Paton and Mark Roberts eased Thistle to a 2-0 victory. It was altogether tougher when the two teams met in the Scottish cup at the same venue. Thistle appeared to be coasting to victory when goals from Scott Chaplain and Gary Harkins had Thistle 2-0 up at half-time. Craig Molloy, however, netted for the hosts early in the second half and Thistle had to weather sustained Stirling pressure before Liam Buchanan eased nerves with a third Thistle goal. There was time though for Paul Murphy to score again for Stirling two minutes from time to ensure a few anxious moments before the full-time whistle finally sounded.

Looking to the present and there are a few familiar faces on the Stirling management and coaching team. Ex Jag Allan Moore remains manager at Forthbank a position that he has held now for 7 years. Another former Thistle player, Roddy Grant, is part of Allan's coaching staff.

Stirling played their first pre-season friendly on Wednesday night, fielding 8 trialists during the course of a 1-0 defeat against Dunfermline Athletic.
