Match Report
After Alan Archibald received a warm welcome from both sets of supporters Thistle got the testimonial underway.
Liverpool were the first to impress. Pacheco had a half chance at the edge of the Thistle box but his attempted chip cleared Craig Hinchcliffe's crossbar. Eccleston was the next to threaten for Liverpool. After showing a good turn of pace that took him to the edge of the Thistle box he shot straight at Hinchcliffe.
Thistle though gradually got into their stride and in the 9th minute Chris Erskine was a little unfortunate to see his shot blocked by a Liverpool defender after a neat lay off from Mark Corcoran.
Thistle were more than holding their own against Liverpool and twice within a minute were close to opening the scoring. In the28th minute Bouzanis in the Liverpool goal was able to save but not hold a powerful drive from David Rowson before in Thistle's next attack doing well to tip a Chris Erskine shot over the bar.
Thistle were the better team but just lacked the goal to emphasis that fact. An Archibald goal would have brought the house down and he try his luck from long range but even in charitable mood in his testimonial game you couldn't have described his effort as being close.
It was a little against the run of play then when Liverpool took the lead with three first half minutes remaining. Pacheco's free kick went right into the danger area and Eccleston is on hand to head home despite the best attempts of Craig Hinchcliffe to keep the ball out.
Thistle made a couple of changes at the interval returning from injury Willie Kinniburgh replaced John Robertson and Martyn Corrigan came on for Paul Paton.
Liverpool had the first chance of the second half, Substitute Brouwer should excellent strength before pushing a pass through to Bruna. Bruna's pace took him past the Thistle defender but he was unable to keep his shot down.
After 63 minutes Alan Archibald's work for the night was done as he was replaced, to a rousing reception, by Ian Maxwell.
In the 72nd minute Thistle were deservedly level. Chris Erskine collected a fine pass from Kris Doolan before shooting across Bouzanis and into the opposite corner of the net.
In Thistle's next attack Erskine again tried his luck with the Liverpool goalkeeper needing a couple of attempts to grab hold of an awkwardly bouncing ball.
There was no further scoring in this fixture but the crowd of a shade more than 2,500 were treated to an entertaining 90 minutes all the same.
