 Match Preview

Tomorrow the aim is simple. To well and truly banish the disappointment of last week's reverse against Dundee by getting our promotion challenge firmly back on track with victory against Airdrie United.

Although Kenny Black's side presently sit bottom of the league and we have defeated them twice already this season tomorrow's fixture will be an extremely difficult one from which to get three points. A point that manager Ian McCall acknowledged when www.ptfc.co.uk caught up with him.

"We need to be aware that Airdrie United are coming into tomorrow's fixture on the back of their best result of the season so far, a 4-0 defeat of Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup. We are under no illusions whatsoever as to just how difficult this game promises to be. It is, however, a match from which we really need to take three points from. We had a disappointing result last weekend and I will be looking for a positive reaction from the players in response to that. So far this season we have generally bounced back from a defeat with victory in our next fixture and that is obviously our aim tomorrow."

"With the exception of Liam Buchanan I have a full squad to select from tomorrow. Liam himself is continuing to make excellent progress and our intention is to play him in a bounce game next week that we have scheduled."

"Returning to the team tomorrow I haven't, as yet, settled on what team I will pick. You might think that we should make big changes in the wake of last Saturday's defeat but I'm not convinced that is necessary. Had we taken the chances we had in the first half and gone on and won the game there wouldn't be any call to make changes. Besides my players have been excellent for the vast majority of this season."

Through the week the Thistle reserves defeated their Stenhousemuir counterparts 5-0 and there were a few performances in that game that caught the eye.

"It was good to see Kris Doolan score a couple of goals and they were both excellent finishes. Chris Erskine did well too. Chris is a player that I enjoy watching but Mark Corcoran is playing so well at the moment that Chris can't get a game on his favoured left hand side of the pitch. I was a left sided player but I enjoyed playing on the right but neither Chris or Mark seem too keen on that. I think that is a shame because it would be good to see one of them going down one flank and the other down the opposite side of the pitch."
