Partick Thistle Football Club

 Match Preview

Although technically today is the 100th birthday of Firhill it's tomorrow when the celebrations will get under way. A gala occasion is planned but as you would expect when www.ptfc.co.uk caught up with manager Ian McCall he was focusing entirely on what is an important 90 minutes of football against Dunfermline Athletic.

"With much going on to help celebrate 100 years at Firhill it's set to be a great day tomorrow. After the match it will be nice to sit down and reflect on 100 years at Firhill but between 3pm and 4:45pm my attention will be focused on one thing and one thing only . Trying to get three points against Dunfermline Athletic and on closing the gap on those sides at the top of the league."

"Hopefully the fact that we will be celebrating 100 years at Firhill on Saturday will produce a good crowd. The atmosphere during our last home game against Morton was fantastic, the performance and result that day might have had something to do with that, and it would be great to get a repeat of that tomorrow."

"Stephen McKeown will again have to miss out. Stephen will shortly undergo a MIR scan on his injured Achilles and we will be keeping our fingers crossed on the outcome of that. I feel sorry for Stephen and he is a player that I really rate. His record in terms of goals from midfield last season shows what an important player he is. It's been a bit stop start for him and with his contract up at the end of this season he knows that he needs to be fit and playing."

"Liam Buchanan is suspended and misses the game as well. I don't think that it is any secret that we feel that his red card last weekend at Raith Rovers was a miscarriage of justice. However, with the video footage not conclusive their is nothing that we can do and we need to abide by the referee's decision. I would like to clear one thing up at this point. Raith Rovers did not refuse to send us their footage of the game."

"Elsewhere Martyn Corrigan picked up a hamstring injury during the reserve game with Stenhousemuir on Tuesday night. Martyn is a very useful player to have on the bench as he can play in a number of different positions and he is pushing hard for a place in the team from the start so it is frustrating that he has picked up this knock.
