Partick Thistle Football Club

 Match Preview

After a weekend off Thistle return to action tomorrow with a trip to Greenock. So far this season we have collected a maximum 9 points against Morton and victory tomorrow would complete a season's clean sweep against the Cappielow side. With Morton though deeply embroiled in a fight with Ayr United to avoid the dreaded play-off position come the season's conclusion it promises to be tough encounter tomorrow as Thistle aim to collect their first win on the road of 2010.

It is felt that while much is at stake for the home side tomorrow Thistle have much less to play for but that is now a view that manager Ian McCall subscribes to as he explained to www.ptfc.co.uk a little earlier this afternoon.

"I know that a lot of people will look at our position and think that we don't have much to play for but that isn't the case at all. We've a lot to play for. It's not just about pride either. We want to better, if possible, the tally of 55 points that we got last year and obviously finish as high up the league as we can. If you finish in the top four you don't need to enter the following season's Scottish Cup quite as early. Above all else I want my players to justify the faith that I have in them."

Which brings us round nicely to tomorrow's team selection.

"Greg Shields and Martyn Corrigan are out and join the unfortunate Jackie McNamara on the injured list but the rest of the players are fine. For tomorrow's game we have added two members of our under 19 team, Kieran Burns and Ross McGeough, to the first team squad. These two lads are just a number of players from the under 19 side, Ryan MacBeth is another, that we have very high hopes for. It can be a difficult thing to bring young players through and we still have a lot of work to do with these young players, particularly in regard to working on their body strength but we hope that next season they will be working very closely with both Simon Donnelly and Jackie McNamara. Meantime even if Kieran and Ross don't feature at any point tomorrow against Morton then there is a real chance that they will get a chance before the season's end."

Morton meantime will be without the services of the suspended Stewart Greacen.
