Partick Thistle Football Club

 Match Preview

After an eventful few days we get back to talking about events on the field today with a trip through to East End Park for a fixture with a Dunfermline side that, thanks in no small measure to back to back Fife derby wins against Raith Rovers, are firmly back in a title challenge.

Our own immediate ambitions are a little more modest. Namely to halt a depressing run of 1-0 defeats and record a morale boosting victory before we make an all too welcome return to Firhill.

As always www.ptfc.co.uk caught up with manager Ian McCall for the latest team news.

"There really isn't too much to report with little change from the weekend in terms of player availability. Martyn Corrigan and Greg Shields miss out while Ian Maxwell is struggling after picking up a knock at the weekend. With three games to play in the space of seven days Ian though may not have featured tonight against Dunfermline in any case."

"Ian Maxwell aside then we will be travelling through to Dunfermline with the same squad that we had for Saturday's match with Morton. That means that youngsters Kieran Burns and Ross McGeough are again part of the squad."

"The last three games have been bitterly disappointing for all concerned and it is difficult to find anything new to say. I'm not looking for excuses and I know that the Thistle fans are fed up hearing it, I'm fed up saying it, but each of those three matches could easily have ended up going the other way. If they had then we would also be alongside Dunfermline trying to ensure an exciting finish to the season. It's all been just so very frustrating."

"We go through to Dunfermline tonight though with a positive approach and tonight we simply must take our chances when they come along. The two great chances we created in the second half at Morton were the result of good play so it's not as if we haven't been playing good football at times. The problem has been in taking advantage of that. A fact that everyone, players, coaching staff and supporters, are only too aware of."
