Match Preview
After last Saturday's excellent win against Dunfermline our First Division campaign takes us north to Inverness tomorrow for our first league meeting with Inverness since the 2001/2002 season.
To make sure that the players are properly rested ahead of Saturday's 3pm kick-off the Thistle party left this afternoon for a hotel in Nairn and it was just after departure when manager Ian McCall was able to provide us with his usual Friday team news.
"Stephen McKeown and Martyn Corrigan will miss out this weekend again. Stephen has been for his MRI scan and will now have an injection on his Achilles . If that works then he will be back in a couple of weeks. If it doesn't then we are looking at about a month before he will back. Martyn Corrigan's hamstring injury meantime is a bit deeper than we first thought and it will be another three weeks before he is available again."
"Those two players aside, although there are a few wee niggles, everyone is fit and available for selection tomorrow. We've competition for places which is a good thing and up front is a problem as the boys that played there last Saturday were excellent with the form of Simon Donnelly a real boost at the moment. You have to feel though that now that he is free from suspension that Liam will start tomorrow."
"Although we were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Inverness just a few weeks ago we are not heading north tomorrow looking for revenge for that. If anything we are looking for revenge for our defeat against Inverness in the Scottish Cup last season when we all felt that the final score of 3-0 was far from a fair reflection on how the game went. Hopefully the conditions will be better tomorrow than they were that day."
"A victory tomorrow would send out a real signal to the rest of the division and with a home game coming up the following week you have to imagine that a six point haul from our next two games wouldn't leave us too far from the top of the league. Make no mistake though tomorrow's fixture against a good side will be very difficult indeed."
