Partick Thistle Football Club

 Defeat for under 19s

Monday 6th April 2009

It was a disappointing afternoon for the Thistle under 19 side yesterday as they went down to a 3-2 defeat in their League Cup fixture with East Stirling at McKenna Park.

It had all started so promisingly for them as well. Goals from Scott Tully and Kenny Hogg had Thistle two up at the break but the second half, during which East Stirling scored three times, is best forgotten.

On the plus side it was encouraging to see three members of the under 17 team step up to under 19 level. Stuart Bannigan played the full 90 minutes, Jamie Campbell the second half with Keiran Burns taking up a position on the bench.

The team yesterday afternoon was as follows:

Scully, Vezza, Cleland, McDermott, Robertson (McGeough), Bannigan, Trialist, MacBeth (Campbell), Hogg, Tully, Sellars (Stewart).  Subs unused:  Burns, Trialist GK

The under 17s are in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Battery Park, Greenock to face Morton. Kick-off for that fixture is 6:15pm.

Both the under 19s and under 17s have a free weekend this week.
