Future Fans
Wednesday 29th April 2009
With all under 16’s going free to every match in the 2008/2009 season we are proud to announce that we have let just shy of 9,000 kids into Firhill for free over the season. This was an initiative the club took after testing it at the tail end of last season. It was a bold move from the board making such a step to secure the future fans. In addition we have increased the number of paying adults and concessions and we have also trebled the numbers of children coming to matches.
Along with the ‘Kids Go Free’ scheme we revamped our young supporters clubs which have doubled in numbers this season. The members of the clubs have enjoyed having more contact with the players through the Player Zone post match after every home game, the Christmas Party and this week’s coaching session with the full management team and Ian Maxwell present.
We also ran a “Partick Paparazzi” competition the supporter who won has been picked and will be announced in a few days. The prize will be to travel on the team bus with the squad to Dundee.
On top of all this we knew we had to spread the word of ‘Kids Go Free’ in the community. Players, management, directors and staff have visited schools and/or community events every week from the start of season…most memorable being Simon Storey’s visit to Yorkhill Hospital after training on Christmas Day to hand out Thistle goodies.
Partick Thistle FC would like to thank everybody who, over the season, has helped us become more active in the community. We plan on carrying on this work into next season.
The Supporters Clubs will be changed slightly again next season to give the future fans as much as possible. Details will be released soon.
