Harkins and Cairney up for awards

Gary Harkins has been nominated for 2008/09 First Division Players' Player of Year. Gary has had a tremendous season making over 40 appearances and is our top goal scorer netting 12 goals.
Gary is delighted and said "It's fantastic to nominated for Players' Player of Year it's been a hard season and the team as a whole has done great. We have a great spirit in the dressing room and overall we have preformed well as a team in games. We have had a lot of hard away games and got results. This is a nice award to be up for as it's the players who nominate."
Manager Ian McCall added "Gary has been tremendous for us. He is a great player with a great attitude and deserves to be nominated"
Paul Cairney has been nominated for 2008/09 Second Division Player of Year award.
Paul signed a contract with Thistle last summer however Ian McCall sent Paul back on loan to Spiders to gain more first team experience. Paul has made 40 appearances and has 10 goals and picked up8 man of the match awards.
Gardiner Speirs said earlier "It's great news, Paul deserves it. It's especially good as the other players have voted for him. This is a division with a number of great players so to make the top 4 is a fantastic achievement. We are grateful to Thistle for lending him out and hope he has developed into a better player. I can see a more mature side to him and he's getting stronger all the time he has a great future in the game"
Paul added "I'm over the moon to be nominated; it's been a tough season. It's a really competitive division and I just hope I can help keep Queens Park up. It's been a team effort all season and it's as much about the lads as it is me"
