 Reaction to Saturday's Defeat

Tuesday 14th April 2009

Saturday's defeat was unquestionably a huge disappointment. Our defeat coupled with St Johnstone's win at Dunfermline leaves us trailing the league leaders by seven points. With just four games remaining it will take a major turn around between now and the end of the season to haul ourselves back into the title race.

It was naturally a despondent group of Thistle players after the game. Both John Robertson and captain Alan Archibald though took a little time to speak with www.ptfc.co.uk.

Said Robertson;

"We are all naturally gutted. That was just so very disappointing. Looking at the season as a whole though It's a massive achievement what we have achieved so far especially when you look at over all size of squad and the fact that Alan Archibald and Willie Kinniburgh both need operations."

Alan Archibald was equally succinct in his assessment of the afternoon.

"In games like this one the first goal is always important it's frustrating to drop points at home. The fans have the right to be frustrated we just didn't live up to the level required against Queen of the South although we do have a small squad. It's a big blow to have Liam Buchanan missing at present as he has a fantastic goal scoring record as well as  winning penalties and setting up goals."
