Partick Thistle Football Club

Sean O'Connor - The Manager Speaks

Thursday 30th April 2009

Although Sean O'Connor has never been part of our own football club he is part of the football family in Scotland and it was with real sadness that I learnt of his early retirement.

When I signed Sean for Queen of the South I was aware of his injuries but felt that his signing was a risk well worth taking. Since then I think Sean has repaid Queen of the South tenfold for that risk.

Had it not been for his injuries Sean would definitely have played at a higher level. His partnership with Stephen Dobbie would terrorise any defence in the country. Had Sean been part of our Club this season I'm quite sure that we would be finishing the season as champions.

In addition to being an excellent footballer Sean is a smashing lad and I, on behalf of everyone at Partick Thistle, would like to wish him all the best as a new chapter in his life is about to open.
