RETAIL DEAL
- Goalkeeper Kenny Arthur launches young goalkeeper advice service as Greaves Sports sign up to stock KAgoalkeeping gloves -
Former Thistle hero Kenny Arthur has teamed up with Greaves Sports in a deal that will see the Glasgow sports retailer stock the goalkeeper's personally-designed gloves.
Kenny, now at Accrington Stanley, launched his ‘KAgoalkeeping' business in 2007 and has sold more than 1,100 pairs of gloves in the 12 months since. Having his all-weather gloves stocked by Greaves Sports is his first Scottish retail deal but he has enjoyed sales throughout the UK and as far afield as New Zealand.
The 30-year-old, who spent 10 years between the sticks at Firhill, is also launching a young goalkeeper advice service to any emerging footballer who buys his equipment. Upon purchase, they will join ‘Team KA' and be able to pose questions to Kenny on his website.
Kenny popped in to Greaves' Gordon Street store recently to celebrate the deal and said: "I have been a goalkeeper since I was seven-years-old, playing professionally for the last 14 years and during this time I have lived and breathed every aspect of goalkeeping.
"Using the knowledge I have gained during my career I designed and produced a range of goalkeeper gloves and equipment I believe in and I'm delighted that such an established and respected sports retailer as Greaves Sports has agreed to stock them.
"In the 11 months since selling my first pair in December I have gone on to sell 1,100 and during that time it became clear that a lot of young keepers had questions to ask and were looking for tips. So the next obvious step was to set up the online advice service which will launch soon. It's great to see so many enthusiastic young keepers making their way in football and it's equally pleasing to be able to offer advice to them and give something back to the game."
Greaves Sports now has both the KAgoalkeeping Flat Palm and the KAgoalkeeping Roll Finger gloves in stock, available online or from its Sauchiehall Street and Gordon Street stores.
Hugh Leslie, football department manager of Greaves Sports, said: "We are delighted to support Kenny in his business venture which has already proved to be a great success.
