Youth Team Update
Thursday 18th December 2008
The Thistle under 17s had one re-arranged fixture to play before their season goes into a mini winter break. They were, however, unable to sign off 2008 with a victory as last night they went down to a 4-2 defeat at Lesser Hampden in a fixture against Dunfermline Athletic.
All looked well when a double from Marc Green fired Thistle into a 2-0 lead but it all went downhill from that point onwards. Already missing top scorer Kieran Burns, goalkeeper Graeme Shepard and midfielder Andy Dunbar Thistle were forced to withdraw Craig Dineen at half-time having suffered a broken metatarsal. When Kyle Lochhead had to be replaced as well through injury after all the subs had been committed Thistle were left to finish the game with just ten men.
Last night's defeat notwithstanding it has been a more than decent first half of the season for the Thistle under 17 side. The most recent league table published by the SFL shows Thistle sitting in the 4th position in the 20 team division with 23 points from 12 games played.
The under 19s meantime sit middle table in their division with 11 points from 10 games played.
