It was a Valentine’s Day heartbreak for Thistle at Firhill this afternoon. Dunfermline’s late winner dealing Thistle’s promotion hopes a huge blow.
It had all started so well with Liam Buchanan providing Thistle with a 9th minute lead.
Dunfermline though were level three minutes later when Steven Bell scored and on the half hour mark were in front when Andy Kirk headed home.
Kris Doolan’s goal though in the 33rd minute ensured that a frantic first 45 minutes finished level.
The second half was just as frantic but with time running out looked destined to finish level. With just two minutes left though Dunfermline snatched all three points. Ian Maxwell fouled Steven Bell inside the box and was sent off to add salt to his wounds.
Jonny Tuffey though looked to be the hero when he produced an excellent save to keep out Rory Loy’s spot kick but Loy was the first to react to the loose ball and scored what proved to be the game’s winning goal.
