Partick Thistle Football Club

Paton, Cairney and Jim Duffy show support for local schools

Thursday 12th February 2009

Both these schools are situated back to back in the Wyndford Housing estate. St Gregorys is a catholic school whilst the Wyndford is a non-denominational school.  Both sets of kids socialize together as do the parents and community. The parents are fighting for an amalgamated school, which would save the council money and would mean the kids would not have to be moved to another school much further away.

Partick Thistle helped to show support today with Paul Cairney and Paul Paton on hand for interviews and photos along with ex St Gregory’s pupil and current Brechin manager Jim Duffy.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk Jim said "I give 100% support to the campaign, the schools are vital to the spirit of the community"

Thistle player Paul Paton added “I agree with Jim, the schools are a massive part of the community and it's a shame for everybody involved pupils, parents, teachers etc this is happening. I wish them all the best of luck with their campaign to amalgamate the schools"

Next up is a stop the traffic march planned for tomorrow at 3pm starting at Wynford/St Gregors.
Thier campaign slogan is:
Wyndford and St Gregory's
'We'll never be divided'
