A trip to Airdrie used to be viewed with some trepidation, Thistle going over 20 years without an away win against either Airdrieonians or Airdrie United.
Our last five trips to Airdrie, however, have yielded four wins and one draw.
This afternoon it was a 43rd minute Liam Buchanan (pictured celebrating) goal that earned Thistle maximum points.
Such was Thistle's dominance in the first half that Thistle could well have been out of sight come the half-time whistle.
It was a different story after the break though with Airdrie United pushing men forward in search of an equaliser. Jonny Tuffey saving well from Joe Cardle and Paul Di Giacomo shaving a post with a shot.
Kevin McKinlay though had three efforts late on that would have eased the pressure but Thistle held on for a hard fought win.
