Partick Thistle Football Club

Partick Thistle Reserves 0, Clyde Reserves 1

Monday 19th January 2009

With a side comprised almost entirely of players from the under 19 side the Thistle reserves went down to a 1-0 defeat against their Clyde counterparts, who fielded a stronger more experienced side, at Petershill Park this evening.

With the snow already lying on the pitch this match was played to the backdrop to a couple of heavy snow showers but the artificial pitch at Petershill Park aided a decent game of football with the inexperienced Thistle side a shade unfortunate not to gain at least a point from this fixture.

The game's only goal arrived in the 24th minute when a left wing cross was headed home by the Clyde centre forward.

Thistle's Graeme Eaglesham was lively throughout and he twice came close to equalising for Thistle. In the first half after controlling the ball at the edge of the box he hocked a shot narrowly wide of goal before, after half-time, he saw his chipped shot beat the Clyde keeper but not a Clyde defender who cleared from right on the goal line.

The Thistle side this evening was:

Scully, McGeough, Vezza, Little, McDermott, McStay, Ardalany, MacBeth (Clelland), Eaglesham, Tully (Sellars), Middlemiss (Hogg) subs unused Weir, M Robertson.

The reserves are back in action next Monday (January 26th) when Stenhousemuir provide the opposition at Petershill Park for a fixture that kicks-off at 8:30pm.
