Partick Thistle Football Club

 Monday Round Up

Monday 2nd March 2009

With the dust settled on Saturday's entertaining 4-2 win at Livingston manager Ian McCall spoke to www.ptfc.co.uk a little earlier today.

"The first thing I would like to do is apologise to referee Steven McLean. Our first goal came via the penalty spot. I thought at the time that it wasn't a penalty kick and I said so when I spoke to the press immediately after the game. I've since had the benefit of watching the incident back on video four or five times and it is a definite penalty. Referees are frequently criticised for getting decisions wrong and I think it is important to acknowledge when they get things right especially when the validity of that decision has been publicly questioned."

"I wasn't entirely happy with the way that we played on Saturday but I was a little surprised to read in today's Herald about how lucky we were to win at the weekend. I didn't think we played anywhere near as poorly as was suggested. A couple of silly errors cost us but in general I thought that we defended quite well and, of course, we scored some excellent goals of our own. Things can't be too bad when you aren't at your best but still win and score four goals away from home."

While the first team enjoyed a good win at Livingston at the weekend it was a different story for the under 19s when they headed through to Livingston on Sunday. The home side required a point to secure the league title but managed all three courtesy of a 4-0 win. The Thistle cause not be helped any by the ordering off of Ryan MacBeth with the score at 3-0.
