Partick Thistle back Craig Stirling Trust
Craig Stirling, a 15 year old Partick Thistle supporter, tragically died on 3rd August 2007. Craig was a massive Thistle fan. He and his brother dressed as Santas one Christmas; some may remember seeing them in the Stand that day.
His mother,Jennifer Stirling, said “He died of experimenting with ecstasy. Boredom, lack of opportunity, and misadventure all played an equal part in Craig’s death”
Craig was also a huge music fan and made his own music in his bedroom mixing songs/artists. His dad, Gordon, is a taxi driver and after picking up Triple-Og (USA Artist) in his cab he let him hear one of Craig’s mixes he had on his phone. Triple-Og loved the song and instantly wanted to meet Craig. Unfortunately, as Gordon had to explain, it was too late since his son had already passed away. Triple- Og was blown away so much so he set out to make a CD with Craig’s music.
After a long court case involving the people responsible for dealing the drugs, it has now been possible to release the CD. All money raised from the album is going to the Craig Stirling Trust.
Mum Jennifer explained “It’s a unique not-for-profit venture specifically founded to tackle some of the problems faced by youth. Through the provision of an exciting range of vocational education programs, music opportunities and other leisure activities we aim to give young people something to look forward to. We aim to nurture fresh ideas, talent and ambition, giving each youth involved a glimpse of a brighter future.”
A lot of people are already backing Craig’s music and helping the Trust including Travis and Wet Wet Wet. Shotgun Records have produced the CD.
The CD is out now and is soon to be released on I-Tunes.
