Partick Thistle Football Club

 First Close Season Signing

Tuesday 19th May 2009

Thistle today agreed a deal that will see Kilbirnie Ladeside player Chris Erskine become a Partick Thistle player when he joins Thistle for the start of pre-season training on June 22nd.

Chris, who played a number of trial games for Thistle in the latter half of last season, is a 20 year old highly rated left sided midfielder who loves to get forward and score goals.

Chris' deal will initially see him stay a Partick Thistle player until May 2010.

Said manager Ian McCall;

"Chris played 2 or 3 trial games with us last season and we were all very impressed. At over 6 feet tall he has terrific stature and has a great left foot and a real eye for a goal. We will have to work on his defensive side of the game but the boy has a real hunger about him and if he can make the same kind of impact that Kris Doolan did last season, and we expect him to push on this season, then we will be more than happy."

"I have no hesitation in signing players from the Junior ranks. No matter how much money I had at my disposal I can guarantee the Thistle fans that I would still have signed Chris Erskine. He is a player that we think has a real chance to make a big impact while at Firhill and I'm delighted to have signed him."
