Billy has a strong commercial background and we are excited that he has joined us to help push Partick Thistle forward.”
Billy Allan’s Profile
Born and bred in Partick, Billy attended school at Dowanhill and Hyndland and was introduced to Partick Thistle as a youngster by his Grandfather, a lifelong Jags man, who had played in his youth for Airdrie.
Billy started his working life as an apprentice electrician in 1976 with E.J Stiell, a Lanarkshire engineering business. He progressed through the ranks and in 1995 he led a management buy out and became managing director of the company. Over the next seven years he led the transformation of the business into Stiell Facilities, the leading independent facilities management business in the UK.
At that point Alfred McAlpine stepped in and bought the business and Billy became managing director of its business services division. He left McAlpine in 2005 and in 2006 took up the reigns at ASCO, the Aberdeen based international oil and gas logistics company. As well as being chief executive of ASCO, Billy is also non executive chairman of Europa, a facilities management business, and holds a number of other directorships.
Billy is a passionate believer in the need for training and development and between 2005 and 2008 was Chairman of the Scottish University for Industry.
Billy lives near Aberdeen with his wife Gail and three children Holly, Mia and Joshua. Outside work his main interests apart from Partick Thistle are skiing and shooting.
