Partick Thistle Football Club

Stirling Albion 2, Partick Thistle 3

Saturday 29th November 2008

Thistle made it through to Monday's draw for the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup but not without a fight, especially in the second half.

Jonny Tuffey was the sponsor's Man of the Match and a string a fine saves from the Northern Ireland international kept Thistle in front at 2-1.

Thistle had looked to be easing their way through to the next round in comfortable fashion, leading at the break 2-0.

Scott Chaplain opened the scoring in the 27th minute when he converted a Ryan McStay corner. Six minutes later it was 2-0. Liam Buchanan was fouled inside the box and Gary Harkins made an efficient job of the penalty that followed.

Thistle's advantage was halved 9 minutes after the restart when Craig Malloy netted and as Stirling grew in confidence Thistle had Tuffey to thank for maintaining Thistle's lead.

Nerves were eased in the 82nd minute but there was further anxiety when Paul Murphy netted a second Stirling goal with just two minutes remaining.
