Double Youth Victories
Monday 6th October 2008
It was a good weekend for the Under-17s and 19s as both notched up away victories.
The 19s were away at Gayfield, Arbroath and secured a well earned 4-0 win.
17 minutes gone, Scott Tully put a ball in the box and as the Lichties defence tried to clear it, it came off a fellow defender and gave the Jags a one nil lead. Then just before half time the lead was doubled. Michael Robertson was going through on goal before being tripped and Mark Begg converted from the edge of the 'D'.
Into the second half chances were missed to extend the Jags lead, but Tully did so when he met a great cross from Marcus Stewart to blast the ball by the Arbroath goalkeeper. Mark Begg was then fouled in the area and he dusted himself down to round off the scoring from the spot.
Meanwhile, the 17s had made the shorter journey to Ochilview to face Stenhousemuir and came away with a 2-0 win courtesy of a double from Kieran Burns. This was a very good result after the defeat from Stirling Albion last week and got the boys back on track.
Both teams have a free weekend next Sunday (12th).
