Queen's Park Reserves 2, Partick Thistle Reserves 2
Monday 13th October 2008
Thistle Reserves came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with their counterparts from Queen's Park at Lesser Hampden earlier this evening.
It was a strong Thistle side that started this fixture. Gary Harkins, suspended for Sunday's cup-tie with Airdrie United, started the match as did Willie Kinniburgh, Ryan McStay, Paul Paton, Scott Chaplain, Damon Gray and Stevie Lennon.
It was the home side, however, that opened the scoring in the 6th minute. Watt heading home unchallenged following a corner from the Queen's Park right.
The same player doubled Queen's advantage in the 29th minute when he slotted home past Samushonga after a cross from the right.
Thistle started the second half with Ross McGeough and Pedram Ardalany on for Paul Paton and Gary Harkins and the deficit was reduced just 9 minutes into the second half. Stevie Lennon, who moved up front after occupying a role in the Thistle midfield in the first half, cut the ball back for Damon Gray to net.
Three minutes later the scores were tied when Pedram Ardalany's deflected shot found the corner of the Queen's Park net.
Ardalany was denied a second goal by a fine save low down from Cowie in the Queen's goal while at the other end it took a magnificent goal line clearance from captain for the night Michael Robertson to keep the score at 2-2. The unfortunate Robertson colliding with the post in the process and had to be replaced by Scott Tully.
The Thistle line-up was as follows:
Samushonga, Paton (McGeough), Vezza, Kinniburgh, M Robertson (Tully), Harkins (Ardalany), McStay, Chaplain, Gray, Eaglesham, Lennon.
