 Reserves Lose at Stranraer

Monday 29th September 2008

The Thistle Reserve team played their second Reserve League Cup fixture and followed up a 6-1 win against Airdrie United in their opening fixture with a 2-1 defeat on a wild and wet night at Stranraer

A Scott Tully goal had Thistle a goal up at half-time but Stranraer hit back twice after half-time to take full points.

The Thistle team, which was in all but name an under 19 side, was as follows:
Samushonga, M Robertson, McDermott, Vezza, McGeough, Middlemiss, Ardalany, Clelland, Sellars, Eaglesham and Tully subs Maguire and O'Keffe.

There are 12 entrants in this season’s Reserve League Cup split between an East Section and a West Section. Thistle are, naturally enough, in the West Section alongside the reserve teams of Airdrie United, Clyde, Queens Park, Stenhousemuir and Stranraer.
Each team will play each other twice with the top two in each section contesting the semi-finals played over one leg. The final too, scheduled to be played by April 30th 2009, will be over one leg.
