Injury Update - Liam Buchanan
Sunday 11th April 2010
After thirty minutes of yesterday's game with Dundee we lost the services through injury of our leading scorer this season Liam Buchanan.
Liam went for an x-ray to have the injury assessed and a little earlier today the manager was able to give us an update on the extent of Liam's injury.
"Following an x-ray it has been confirmed that Liam has sustained a fracture to his fifth metatarsal. Liam will be out for 4-6 weeks which obviously means that this season is now over for him. That's typical of the way our luck has been running of late and as someone pointed out to me we are now in danger of running out of crutches at the club. I suppose if there is such a thing as a good time for this to happen then this, with the season nearing an end, is it. Liam I thought was looking sharp yesterday and with the benefit of a good pre-season I'm sure he will be flying at the start of next season."
Looking back at yesterday'sgame itself the manager had the following comments to make;
"Yesterday was, of course, the fourth time that we have lost to Dundee this season. I'm not interested in the previous three games but yesterday I thought we were absolutely superb and really should have won the game. I know people think that I'm prone to making excuses but anyone at the match today would have seen how the game went and how well we played at times. On a bumpy pitch we played a lot of good football and created a lot of good chances."
"That though is the one area that the players need to take a little criticism. It's not just bad luck that is preventing us from scoring. We worked really hard on improving our finishing at training this week but it just didn't happen for us yesterday afternoon."
