PARTICK THISTLE AND GREAVES SPORTS THINK PINK FOR ANOTHER SEASON

Club reveal first ever camouflage strip in Scottish football -

Partick Thistle Football Club and Greaves Sports are thinking pink again with the club’s 2009/10 change kit – after last season’s eye-catching change strip proved a lucky charm.

At Thursday’s annual team photocall, Thistle unveiled Scottish football’s first ever camouflage kit – also believed to be the first camouflage strip in world football which features pink. 

Official retailer Greaves Sports, kit manufacturer Puma and designers Genesis combined to come up with the concept with the pink element retained on the back of the success – on and off the park – of last year’s change top.  

While it received widespread praise from media and public as well as becoming the club’s fastest ever selling kit, Thistle won five times out of six while wearing the 2008/09 pink and grey hooped top.

Sandy Greaves, managing director of Greaves Sports, said: “We were blown away by the reaction to last season’s away strip which was Partick Thistle’s best ever in terms of sales and exposure. We promised to create a stir year-on-year so were then faced with the challenge of coming up with something which would generate as much interest.

“We retained the pink element due to the popularity of last year’s pink and grey kit and we hope it proves a lucky charm for Ian McCall and his players once again.”

The strip will be available on general sale later this month and details of when the players will play in the camouflage kit have yet to be confirmed. 

Thistle manager Ian McCall said: “Last season’s away strip was certainly an eye-catcher and this term’s is no different. The amazing thing is the wide age range of people who are buying into this – even from within my squad.”
