ROLL UP AT FIRHILL
Monday 3rd August 2009
Partick Thistle Football Club is pleased to confirm that under 16s will continue to go free to SFL games in the 09/10 season. In the past season, where the Club finished second in the First Division, numbers peaked at just under 700, treble the amount of numbers in the previous season.
McGhee’s Bakery has agreed to sponsor and promote this initiative. The aim is to double numbers this year whilst promoting community involvement, and interest in health through football coaching, camps and other activities.
It is recognised that it can be difficult at times for young fans to persuade an adult to go to a game. There is therefore no accompaniment requirement. The intention is to continue this even in the SPL.
Vice Chairman Tom Hughes said “We are delighted to confirm today that under 16s will go free to all SFL matches in 2009/2010. We look forward to working more closely with McGhee’s Bakery to promote the “Under 16s” initiative and together we aim to double the numbers from last season. Our first SFL match is against Ross County on 15th August”
Manager Ian McCall added “The fans are the most important part of a football club. I am delighted the Board showed the initiative last season to run with the under-16s (scheme) go free and to continue this even in these times is great. I’m sure along with the support from McGhee’s Bakery we can continue to give youngsters the chance to watch live football for free and double the number of children attending Firhill”
Forthcoming Fixtures:
- Partick Thistle v Ross County - 3pm, 15/08/09
- Partick Thistle v Morton - 3pm, 29/08/09
