 Ross County Post Match Reaction

Saturday 15th August 2009

Frustration was the name of the game at Firhill this afternoon. The game had cards aplenty but no goals and if truth be told the 0-0 final score had been inevitable long before full-time.

www.ptfc.co.uk spoke to manager Ian McCall after the game and he was in no mood to pull punches with his verdict on the game.

"That was absolute torture and just so very frustrating especially after they way that we played through the week. I thought that our passing was poor and that our movement was poor. Although we had a few good passages of play we simply didn't create anything like enough chances and that was really disappointing. I thought we were the only team pushing to win the game but you expect the away team to play in a certain way and the onus was on us to break them down."

"I didn't think that the game had any real rhythm and in many respects it was a false game. That, I feel, is down entirely to the number of cards that were shown during the match. From where I was watching there simply wasn't any bad challenges yet we had two red cards and eight yellow cards. If that is the way the game is going to go then we will end up playing 8aside games every week. Teams need to take responsibility for their action but so too I think do referees."

"I said to the players at half-time to be careful and not give the referee an excuse to send them off. I took off Paul Cairney when I didn't really want to because I feared that after being booked before half-time he would end up getting sent off. Do we now go and end up getting a player sent off in any case. All I saw were two players getting their arms tangled together."

"We're obviously disappointed that we haven't as yet managed to record our first league win of the season but the results already have shown just how tight things are going to be. We were all gutted that we didn't win at Ayr last week and then they go up and draw at Inverness this week who are obviously one of the favourites to win the league"
