Partick Thistle Football Club

 Change to Management Set Up

Wednesday 9th December 2009

There will be a change in Thistle management team early in January 2010 when current Assistant Manager Gerry Britton will leave the Club to take up a position outside football.

Said Thistle manager Ian McCall;

"Gerry will be leaving Firhill earlier in the New Year to take up a position with a law firm. Much as we like to think that we have a stable set up at Firhill Gerry I think feels that this opportunity gives him some extra stability and will allow him to provide better for his family. I don't think there is anyone who would find fault with that."

"Gerry has been great for me personally and great for Partick Thistle in general in various capacities since first joining the Club as a player back in 1992. He leaves the Club with our very best wishes and we wish him all the luck for the future. I would add though that once things settle down for him a little we hope to entice him back to help with a few things on the youth side."

"In the meantime you can't afford to stand still in football. When Gardner Speirs left for a good job with Queen's Park we moved quickly to bring Gerry in and when John Henry left for a great job with Burnley we brought Ian Cameron onboard in a different capacity to the one he already had. With that in mind I have already agreed a deal for Gerry's replacement. We will make a further announcement on that subject a little later, perhaps early next week, but it is someone that the Thistle fans are familiar with."

Gerry's last match in the Firhill dugout as Assistant Manager will be the fixture with Morton on January 4th 2010. www.ptfc.co.uk hopes to catch up with ‘The King of Spain' a little nearer that date and reflect back on his time with a Club that he has given such fantastic service to.
