New Role for Gerry Britton
Tuesday 15th December 2009
Last Wednesday we brought you the news here on www.ptfc.co.uk that Assistant Manager Gerry Britton was to leave Thistle early next year to pursue a career in the law profession.
Commenting at the time manager Ian McCall expressed the hope that we could at some point lure Gerry back to Firhill in some capacity when he said;
"Once things settle down for him a little we hope to entice him back to help with a few things on the youth side."
We are delighted, therefore, to report that we have managed to do just that and sooner than we could have hoped or expected.
Once again we left it to the manager to explain the situation.
"We have managed to persuade Gerry Britton to take on a new role at the Club and we are absolutely delighted to have done so. His new title at the Club will be Youth Development Director."
"Gerry won't be in and around the Club to the same degree that he is at the moment. His new role will involve heading up, as the title suggests, the overall youth structure at the Club and he will also co-ordinate our scouting network which is something that I have been keen to expand. Gerry will also get involved in some of the community initiatives that the Club are involved in. That's another area that I'm really keen to see us expand. Gerry is a really organised man and is ideal for this role. It helps also that he is a Thistle Legend."
