Partick Thistle Football Club

 Bobby Smith

Tuesday 23rd February 2010

All at Firhill were saddened to learn a little earlier today of the passing of former player Bobby Smith.

Most commonly thought of as a former Hibernian, he made just shy of 200 appearances across two spells at Easter Road, and Leicester City player Bobby was the captain of the Dunfermline Athletic side that won the Second Division Championship in 1989.

The following season John Lambie brought Bobby to Firhill with Smith's experience at the back playing a big role in helping Thistle to top the league in the early stages of the season.

In total in his one season as a Thistle player, Bobby played 31 times for Thistle and scored one goal in a 4-0 home win against Clydebank in March 1990.

After leaving Thistle, Bobby had a spell with Berwick Rangers before retiring from football.

The thoughts of all at Firhill are with Bobby's family and friends at this very sad time.
