Partick Thistle Football Club

 Reaction to McNamara Signing

Friday 19th February 2010

Earlier today here on www.ptfc.co.uk we brought you the news of Jackie McNamara's arrival at Firhill with an acknowledgement of the role that the Jags Trust played in bringing Jackie to the Club.

Speaking to www.ptfc.co.uk David Stewart, Chair of the Jags Trust, had the following comment to make;

"The Jags Trust is delighted to be able to help Ian McCall strengthen the squad for the final run in.  Those fans who made it to the recent Meet the Manager Night will know what high expectations Ian has for Jackie as a Thistle player.  If he is selected, we hope that Jackie can make a big impact at Dens on Saturday, and we wish him all the very best in his time at Firhill."

Club Chair Allan Cowan expressed his thanks to the Jags Trust.

"We are obviously delighted that the Jags Trust has provided us with the money to enable us to bring Jackie McNamara to Firhill. I know just how difficult fundraising can be so for the Jags Trust to have provided these funds to us is simply fantastic and our heart felt thanks are extended to the Jags Trust for their assistance."

Manager Ian McCall had been keen to add McNamara to his squad and he was naturally delighted to have secured his services, albeit on an initial one month long loan, in time to face league leaders Dundee at Dens Park tomorrow.

" I think that it is a fantastic gesture from the Jags Trust and one that could have a real impact on our season. I can't thank them enough for their help with this. It's good to see the Trust and the Board work in tandem on this issue. Jackie is a player that I have been after for some time and while I hope he will be here next season in a player/coach capacity he will in the meantime be concentrating solely on playing. He naturally goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's game at Dundee. Looking towards tomorrow's fixture we have had to rule our Martin Grehan. Martin has been ill all week and missed the reserve game on Tuesday because of that. It's been a frustrating time for Martin since coming here but he has plenty of time as he gets used to full-time football once more. "
