 Thistle Sign New Keeper

Friday 8th January 2010

With goalkeeper Craig Hinchcliffe picking up a knee injury Thistle moved swiftly into the transfer marker earlier today to secure the services of Bryn Halliwell on a deal that will keep him at Firhill until May 2nd 2010.

Born in Epsom in October 1980 Bryn started his career with Wimbledon before moving north to Scotland to join Clyde in 2000. Since then Bryn has gone to amass in excess of 200 appearances during spells with the aforementioned Clyde, Dunfermline Athletic, St Johnstone, Hamilton and Queen of the South.

This season Bryn had a short spell at the start of the season with Morton and was most recently on the books of Forfar Athletic for whom he had signed a short term contract.

Unfortunately as Bryn was listed as a substitute for Forfar against Spartans in an earlier round of this season's competition he is cup-tied and will not be able to feature tomorrow. Young Ryan Scully is therefore in line for a place on the bench.

Meantime Thistle are still awaiting clearance for Greg Shields to come through which would allow him, if selected, to make his Thistle debut tomorrow afternoon. Given the time difference between the USA and the United Kingdom that may well not now come through until tomorrow morning.
