Saturday 4th July 2009
With Thistle’s first pre-season outing, albeit a close door friendly with Cowdenbeath, just over an hour away we are delighted to bring news of an addition to the playing squad.
Signing the papers , rushed over by Club Secretary Antonia Kerr, on a 2 year deal at Thistle’s Edinburgh hotel base is 21 year old left footed midfielder Bryan Hodge. Thistle having SPL rivals for Bryan’s signature.
Although Hamilton born Bryan had prior to his move to Firhill played all his football in England spending the formative years of his career on the books of Blackburn Rovers.
While Bryan’s name might not be one that the Thistle fans are overly familiar with he arrives at Firhill with an impressive pedigree having represented Scotland at under 17, under 18, under 19 and under 20 level.
First team opportunities were limited at Ewood Park and Bryan’s solitary first team appearance at Blackburn came in a FA Cup tie with Blyth Spartans. He did, however, enjoy loan spells with Mansfield Town (League Two) , Millwall (League One) and Darlington (League Two).
