Kilmarnock 2, Partick Thistle 3
Wednesday 29th July 2009
An entertaining friendly at Rugby Park ended with Thistle claiming their first win at Rugby Park since 1994.
Both sides had chances in an even first half. Chris Erskine sent a Mark Corcoran cross into the side netting while at the other end Sammon saw a shot rebound off Craig Hinchcliffe's left hand post.
The bulk of the goal action came in the first ten minutes of the second half but before the first goal we had a penalty save. Jonny Tuffey's first touch off the ball after coming on as a second half sub was to save Jamie Hamill's penalty after a foul from John Robertson.
Hamill though did find the net on 50 minutes and a minute later Gavin Skelton made it 2-0.
Thistle did manage a deserved strike of their own on 54 minutes. Mark Corcoran was the provider with a cross from the right and Simon Donnelly the finisher with a crisp header.
With six minutes remaining Thistle scored the equaliser. Donnely threaded a ball through to McKeown and when McKeown's shot was saved Kris Doolan was on hand to tuck the loose ball into the back of the net.
There was just a minute left when after collecting the ball inside the box Simon Donnely fired the ball past Robinson and into the net.
