 Reaction to Corcoran Signing

Tuesday 28th July 2009

With the paperwork completed on the signing, on a two year contract, of former St Mirren and Hamilton player Mark Corcoran (pictured)  www.ptfc.co.uk took the opportunity to speak to the manager about the latest addition to his squad at Firhill.

Said Ian;

"First of all I would like to say that I am delighted to have brought Mark to Firhill and I would like to thank the Board of Directors for finding the funds to allow me to sign Mark."

"I think that Mark brings something to the squad that we have perhaps lacked. He has real pace and adds some real width to the team. We have signed a number of players so far this season that while we are confident will be good players for Partick Thistle have still to prove themselves at our level. I thought it important, therefore, that will bring someone to Firhill that has proven themselves at this level. That is most certainly the case with Mark. Not only has be played in the SPL with both St Mirren and Hamilton he helped St Mirren to the First Division title. He is, therefore, tried and tested at First Division level."

Elsewhere young Burnley striker Wes Fletcher remains strongly linked with a six month long loan deal at Firhill and the manager is still optimistic that something can be concluded on that front.

Alan Archibald meantime is due to have a MRI scan to access the damage of his knee injury that he sustained against Airdrie United at the weekend. The manager commenting;

"We have our fingers firmly crossed that this will confirm that Alan's injury isn't as serious as was feared at the time."
