 Two New Signings

Thursday 9th July 2009

It hasn't all been about departures from Firhill in what has been a busy day at Firhill. While we are naturally disappointed to lose the services of Marc Twaddle we are as equally delighted to announce the signing of two new players.

First up is striker Jim Hamilton (pictured below, on the right) who has over 100 career goals to his name, many of them scored in Scotland's top division. 33 year old, 6ft, Jim passed a medical a little earlier today and put pen to paper on a deal, that will keep him at Firhill until May 2010, a short time later.

Jim started his career with Keith in the Highland League before joining Dundee in January 1994. After three years at Dens Park he moved to Hearts where he was part of the side that lifted the 1998 Scottish Cup. A £300,000 move to Aberdeen followed but in January 2000 he was on the move again when he joined Dundee United.

After a little over 3 years at Tannadice Jim had a short spell with Dunfermline before spending a season with Ross County. He returned to the SPL with Livingston in time for the 2004-2005 season and was top scorer at Almondvale when he joined Motherwell in January 2005.

Jim returned to Dunfermline in August 2006 and from January 2008 until the end of last season was playing SPL football with St Mirren.

Also signing for Thistle after completing a successful medical is 22 year old defender Patrick Boyle (pictured above, to the left).

Patrick, a former Scotland Under 19 cap, started his career with Livingston before moving to Everton's Youth Academy is 2003 before signing a professional contract at Goodison Park in July 2005. Although listed as a substitute on a number of occasions Patrick was unable to break through into the Everton first team.

He did, however, gain first team experience during a loan stint with then Championship Norwich City but after making three appearances his loan deal was curtailed by a back injury.

Patrick had better luck during a loan spell with League One Crewe Alexandra in 2008 making a total of 17 first team appearances while at Gresty Road.

Patrick was released by Everton at the end of the 2007 /2008 season and after making three appearances as a trialist for Dumbarton he joined the side that would go on to win the Third Division title early in 2009. Patrick played in total 20 times for Dumbarton as an excellent finish to the season allowed them to the lift the Third Division title on the final day of the season.
