Firhill Development Ltd Announcement
Monday 15th March 2010
Two public consultation meetings will be held this month by Firhill Development Ltd (FDL), the property vehicle set up in 2009 and backed by over a £1m investment to help ensure a long-term future at Firhill for Partick Thistle FC.
When established last year, FDL stated its intention to develop the main stand and south end of the ground – when favourable property market conditions return.
FDL has since sent a proposal of application notice on the proposed mixed use development of the former south stand of Firhill Stadium to Glasgow City Council, Kelvin North Community Council and Possilpark Community Council.
The proposal outlines intention for a mixed use development including provision of new club facilities and spectator provision, commercial and residential accommodation with associated access, amenity space and parking.
North Kelvin Community Council and Possilpark Community Council are being consulted on the proposal as part of current planning consultation process, which encourages developers to consult the community and respond to their views before submitting a full planning application.
The consultation meeting for residents of the North Kelvin and Possilpark areas is being held at St Charles’ Primary School, on Wednesday March 17, from 7pm.
There will also be an open meeting for all Thistle supporters and the general public held at Firhill on Tuesday March 23. Information on the proposed development will be available for viewing between 3pm and 7.30pm in the Alan Rough Lounge within the Jackie Husband Stand.
The FDL property transaction has completed and there has, therefore, been an injection of capital which has reduced the debt and assist budgeting for the 2010/11 Season. The Football Club has retained a 50% interest in the joint venture company and, as part of the package, should obtain state-of-the-art facilities at the south end of the ground.
