Youth Round Up
Sunday 7th March 2010
It may have been a disappointing weekend for the Thistle first team, with an inability to hit target costing them dear, but the under 19 side had no such problem. In their two fixtures they managed to score no fewer than twelve goals with two Thistle players scoring hat-tricks.
First up on Friday night was a trip to the Broadwood Astro and a resounding 5-1 victory against Clyde.
Shaun Fraser was the player to hit a hat-trick in this fixture with the other two goals being scored by Jamie Campbell, direct from a free kick, and Ryan MacBeth.
This afternoon the Thistle under 19 topped their five goal salvo against with an impressive 7-0 win over East Stirling watched by Thistle manager Ian McCall.
This time it was Jamie Campbell that was the player to bag a hat-trick, the first ever hat-trick that the young midfielder has scored. Shaun Fraser followed up his treble against Clyde with another goal in this match while Kieran Burns netted a brace with centre back Ciaran McDermott also getting himself on the score sheet as Thistle dominated from start to finish.
The only down side to an otherwise excellent weekend for the under 19 side were injuries picked up by Colin Stevenson against Clyde and Ryan MacBeth against East Stirling.
Meantime the under 16s and under 14s both faced Stirling Albion earlier today and both drew their fixtures 1-1.
