Co-Operative Insurance First Round Draw on Friday
Wednesday 26th May 2010
The draw for the First Round of next season’s Co-Operative Insurance Cup will take place this coming Friday.
The 30 SFL sides from last season enter the competition at this stage, with the First Round draw seeded on the basis of last season’s league standings. With Thistle finishing sixth in last season’s First Division we will, therefore, be seeded at the First Round stage and will face opposition that finished from 6th place in last season’s Second Division downwards.
The 15 First Round winners will be joined in the Second Round by those teams that occupied the bottom seven places in last season’s SPL, namely Falkirk, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Aberdeen, Hamilton Accies, St Johnstone and Hearts.
We will bring you news of Friday’s draw here on www.ptfc.co.uk just as soon as we have it.
Meantime League One side Bristol Rovers have been confirmed as the opposition for our home pre-season friendly on Tuesday July 20th. Rovers, who finished just outside the play-off positions in 11th spot in League One last season, ran out winners on their previous pre-season visit to Firhill in the summer of 1982.
