Free Transfers Confirmed
Tuesday 4th May 2010
One of the more unpleasant tasks that a football manager faces comes at the conclusion of any season when he has to tell players that their services are not required beyond the end of their current contract.
That was the unenviable job that faced manager Ian McCall a little earlier today.
We can confirm, therefore, that the following players won't have their contracts extended.
Martyn Corrigan
Simon Donnelly
Bryn Halliwell
Craig Hinchcliffe
Ian Maxwell
Scott Tully
Said the Thistle manager;
"I would like to thank all those players for their efforts during their time at Partick Thistle. It's never a pleasant task having to release players but the door isn't shut entirely on a number of those players. There are some that I would still like to see at the Club next season both in a playing and non playing capacity. We will need to see how things will work out during the summer."
The manager continued;
"In addition to those players already mentioned we know that Jonny Tuffey will be leaving the Club and Ryan Conroy will be returning to Celtic after the end of his loan period here at Firhill. As do the others, Jonny and Ryan leave us with our best wishes."
It is possible that there will be further departures as the manager revealed.
"Both Paddy Boyle and Mark Corcoran, although contracted for next season, have been told that they are free to find other clubs."
The manager was also able to provide us with a little additional news.
"Ryan MacBeth, who did well against Queen of the South on Saturday, is spending much of this week with Bolton Wanderers which is obviously a real opportunity for the lad. He will, however, be back at Firhill on Friday as part of the under 19 side's preparation for the SFL Youth Cup Final."
