Partick Thistle v Queen of the South - Live Text Updates

Saturday 1st May 2010

PARTICK THISTLE 1, QUEEN OF THE SOUTH 0

FULL-TIME

90 mins+: GOAL THISTLE DOOLAN. Kris Doolan curls in a cracker from the corner of the box. There is just time for Queens to restart the game.

90 mins: Thistle's turn for a corner. It's cleared.

89 mins: Queens win a late corner. Easy take for Tuffey.

87 mins: A Martin Grehan shot just crawls wide of goal. The game deserves a goal will we get it?

82 mins: Ross McGeough for Chris Erskine.

81 mins: Great save from Tuffey to deny O'Connor a goal. McAusland gets a free header at the corner that follows but the ball goes wide.

80 mins: McLaren evades the attention of David Rowson before sending a shot just wide of target.

77 mins: An excellent through ball puts Chris Erskine one on one with the keeper. Erskine takes the ball round Hutton but his angle is too tight and the danger is cleared.

76 mins: Ryan MacBeth does well to get the ball from under his feet a couple of yards outside the Queens box but his shot is wide of target.

72 mins: Queens corner.

70 mins: Kieran Burns on for Bryan Hodge.

65 mins: Great play from Kris Doolan nearly brings a goal. He turns and shoots in one movement but Hutton gets down and saves.

64 mins: Half a chance for Ryan MacBeth at the edge of the box but he can't get his shot on target.

62 mins: Kris Doolan comes on for Simon Donnelly.

61 mins: Chris Erskine plays a pass too far in front of Simon Donnelly when had it gone to his feet Donnelly would have had a great chance to score.

Crowd: 2,912

56 mins: Thistle win a corner on the left hand side. Conroy takes it but Queens clear.

54 mins: Derek Holmes shot strikes the outside of the post and goes wide.

52 mins: Tuffey whips the ball off the toes of sub Weatherston who looked set to score, again, against Thistle.

51 mins: persistent play from O'Connor gives him a chance that he hooks over the bar.

Back under way at Firhill.

After a slow start that was a decent first half. Thistle have been the better side but Tuffey had to make the half's best save three minutes from half-time.

HALF-TIME

42 mins: Jonny Tuffey dives full length to turn a McKenna effort round the post for a corner that Thistle clear.

37 mins: Great run right along the goal line from Chris Erskine. He squares the ball to Bryan Hodge but his effort is a weak one and his shot is blocked.

34 mins: David Rowson's low drive from 20 yards out is well wide of target.

31 mins: O'Connor nearly steals in at the back post to knock home a free kick but he is stretching for the ball and can't quite direct the ball goalwards.

28 mins: Ryan MacBeth's cross is just behind Grehan. Thistle keep the pressure on and this time the ball does reach Grehan but his header is grabbed by Hutton.

27 mins: A deflected O'Connor shoot wrong foots Tuffey but it goes over the bar for a corner. Lilley gets his head to that corner but the ball flies straight at Tuffey.

26 mins: Great chance for Thistle. Chris Erskine threads the ball through to Martin Grehan but Grehan scuffs his shot a little and it goes wide of goal.

23 mins: Excellent play from young MacBeth gives Simon Donnelly a shooting chance at the edge of the box but he drags his shot wide.

20 mins: Corrigan's cross is headed behind and Thistle have the game's first corner. Conroy's corner though misses everyone and drifts out of play.

16 mins: A promising Thistle move breaks down at the edge of the box. There are little spurts of good play from both teams but no chances at either end yet.

14 mins: Excellent footwork from Tuffey snuffs out the danger at the edge of the box with O'Connor closing him down.

11 mins: A couple of fire engines have driven past the ground.

7 mins: Jonny Tuffey does well to prevent Queens from winning a corner.

5 mins: It's been a cagey opening 5 minutes. Plenty of noise from an excellent travelling support from Dumfries. They don't seem to like Ian McCall very much though. :-)

As befitting the final game of Firhill's Centenary Season, Thistle are wearing the centenary kit this afternoon and will kick the game off shooting towards the north stand in the first half.

PRE-MATCH NEWS: The final Thistle selection of the season sees a return in goal for Jonny Tuffey and Ryan MacBeth makes his first starting appearance in the Thistle first team after previously making three substitute appearances. Scorer of the winner seven days ago at Ross County, Martin Grehan, starts.
