Partick Thistle Football Club

 Pre Season 2010/2011

Thursday 20th May 2010

Season 2009/2010 may only have finished a shade under three weeks ago but thoughts have already turned towards preparation for season 2010/2011.

As it has for the last few seasons the competitive action kicks-off with the ALBA Challenge Cup with the date for the First Round, Saturday July 24th 2010.

Ahead of that game, which manager Ian McCall is likely to use an invaluable extension to his pre-season build up, Thistle are scheduled to play four pre-season friendly matches including the anticipated first pre-season visit to Firhill of an English League side since Owen Coyle brought his then Burnley team to Firhill in July 2008.

After the players return for pre-season training they will see action for the first time on Saturday July 10th when they play Queen’s Park in a low key fixture at St Andrews University.

That fixture is followed by trips to Dumbarton (Tuesday July 13th) and Clyde (Saturday July 17th).

The visit of English League opposition, yet to be fully confirmed, is pencilled in for Tuesday July 20th.

The season starts with the First Rounds of both the Challenge Cup and Co-Operative Insurance Cup with the league action not due to commence until Saturday August 7th 2010. As a result there may be further friendly matches played after July 24th.

As things stand Thistle’s pre-season itinerary, therefore, is as follows:
